Youth (13-15) & Junior (16-19)
Providing development and competition opportunities for youth and junior age athletes is a key goal of Triathlon PEI. We would encourage youth and juniors to transition into age group and elite competitions such as Canada Games and World Championship Events.
Please contact us if you need more information regarding these age groups.
Youth (ages 13-15)
Triathletes are designated in the “Youth” category if they are between the ages of 13 and 15. Youth races are part of the Kids of Steel events and are also included with the adult events when possible. Check out the Events menu for suitable races. Trilobster Triathlon and Spud Isle Triathlon both offer KOS events and supersprint divisions for youth.
Youth born between January 1, 2001 and December 31, 2005 will be eligible to compete in the Canada Summer Games in 2021. See the section below for more information.

Canada Summer Games 2021
Team development for the province’s Triathlon entry in the Canada Summer Games works on a 4 year cycle. For the 2021 Games in the Niagara region, the cycle started in 2018 and will continue in 2019 with the identification of potential athletes. Potential athletes will mostly be in the Youth category in 2018, but Juniors age 16 and 17 will also be eligible (and prime candidates). Provincial team coaches will be observing and encouraging eligible athletes at clinics, training camps and events across the province throughout 2019 and 2020.
Training programs and competitions for identified athletes will begin in 2019. There will be opportunities each year for new athletes to join the training program.
